Lingering Kents

We thought we would be firmly into Keitt mango season by now, and while Keitts have generally started, Rosario Kent mangoes—much like the Oaxaca Tommy Atkins—are lingering much longer than anticipated. This is providing both wonderful economics at retail and an exceptional eating piece of fruit. Win-win for those that understand #MangoJoy.

We think there is about another week left of Kents in terms of harvest, so carpe diem as they say. Sale pricing exists, sizing is mostly 6/7/8 count, and quality remains decent. The fruit is at the tail end of the season, so it is maturing quickly, as it has generally been all season. Nothing really new here. At this point, we are all used to that (cold trucks = NO).

Ataulfos and the Mango Queen specialty mangoes are done. By the way, did you get to taste our Francis, Alphonso, or Giant Taiwan mangoes at OPS? They were a big hit and will likely be debuting in commercial trials next season as part of the Mango Queen line.

Keitts will start up on the regular circuit soon, and I will be back with more on those.

In the meantime, I will remind you all that once the Keitts arrive, we are closer to being done for the season. So, the question is—are you ready to be done?
