BIG NEWS Crop Report
Little Round Fruit Reigns, Ataulfos Size Up, and Nam Doc Mai Incoming!
It’s Monday, and I’ve got some juicy news—both literally and figuratively—for this week’s Crop Report.
We’re fully in Nayarit now, and most of the fruit is on the smaller side. We’re seeing lots of 10s and 12s, with just a handful of 9s, the occasional 8, and the rare 6 or 7. Expect this sizing trend to continue until the Kents kick off around the end of the month. (They naturally skew bigger.) So if you need large fruit, keep inventories stocked until then. As always, our full-program customers get first dibs on the big sizes—that’s the reward for being in it with us from start to finish.
Meanwhile, some good news from the Ataulfo front: fruit out of Nayarit is sizing up! We’re seeing more 12/14s coming in alongside 16/18s. This bodes well for bigger size buyers. Sinaloa is expected to start similarly, with plenty of 16/18s in sight until Ataulfo season winds down toward late July. And a friendly reminder—don’t forget about all the other sizes. They matter, too.
Now for the most exciting news of the day: Nam Doc Mai mangoes are getting ready to dress up in their opulent Mango Queen elasti-tags and head toward the border this week. A few Kiew Savoy mangoes are along for the ride, too. Mallika’s will be here soon!
And finally, don’t forget—Crespo Organic Summer Mango Mania (#MuchosMangoes) officially kicks off June 15 and runs through August 2! Bins, recipe cards, posters, and RETAIL FLARE buttons are headed to stores this week. The full event calendar drops next Monday. It’s gonna be a juicy ride!
